What is a Night Splint?
Worn at night, the splint is made from moulded hard plastic that fits over the upper or lower teeth. It prevents further wear of the natural tooth surfaces as well as protecting veneers, crowns or implants. To increase comfort and effectiveness, it is custom-made to suit each person’s own teeth and bite.
Why Would You Need a Night Splint?
A night splint is an option for someone with mild to severe grinding behaviour. Grinding during your sleep can result in headaches, jaw aches and broken teeth. A night splint aims to provide a barrier to protect your teeth from damage by evening out the pressure of your jaw. It may also be recommended to protect teeth which may have veneers or crowns on them.
