Check-up and Clean
Dental Hygiene is important to prevent gum disease and to maintain excellent dental health. With regular check-ups and cleans, it allows us to pick up on small issues and address them before they become bigger problems. It is essential to maintain healthy gums and teeth and with more research supporting the link between good oral health and good general health, it is more important than ever!
Please give one of our friendly team members a call or book an appointment online because we would like to get to know you and look after your smile.
We encourage parents to begin bringing their children into the dentist from the age of two. This allows children to become familiar with the dental environment and encourages building a positive, trusting experience with the dentist. We want children to feel comfortable and at ease while visiting the dentist, not scared. Our warm and friendly team cannot wait to hear from you to make an appointment for you and your family.
Child Dental Benefits Schedule
The Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS) is a Medicare funded Scheme. It allows eligible children aged between 2 and 18 to receive up to $1000 worth of dental treatment over a 2-year calendar period. This can be used for check-ups and cleans, fillings, x-rays, extractions, and root canals. At Southport Park Family Dental we can bulk bill under this scheme, so you won’t have to pay any out of pocket expenses if you are eligible.
If you are unsure if your child is eligible, come in and our friendly team can check for you on the spot or you are more than welcome to give us a call.
Fissure Sealants help to prevent dental decay. This is done by filling in the grooves of the molar teeth where dental decay most often occurs. Fissure sealants are most commonly done on children when the first molars come through.
We offer custom made mouthguards to wear during impact sports to help reduce the severity of trauma that may occur to the teeth and soft tissues. Custom made mouthguards mean that they are made to fit your mouth and teeth where off the shelf alternatives may not.
We can create custom made mouthguards right here on site at Southport Park Family Dental!
If you grind your teeth while your sleep, you may need to wear a night splint to protect your teeth from chipping. Grinding during your sleep can result in headaches, jaw aches and broken teeth. A night splint aims to provide a barrier to protect your teeth from damage by evening out the pressure of your jaw.
A dental crown is used to fix a broken or a severely damaged tooth. They are often also recommended when a tooth might be cracked or following a root canal. It is like a helmet that sits on top of your existing tooth. The crown is made to match your existing teeth and looks the same as a normal tooth. The crown will make your existing tooth last longer and become much stronger!
Same Day Crowns
We are also able to offer Same Day Crowns at Southport Park Family Dental. With new technology we can scan your teeth, design your crown, and fit it in all on the same day. You can be walking away with a crown of the exact same quality just delivered to you faster.
A bridge can be an excellent option to replace a missing tooth. A crown is made and placed onto the teeth on either side of the gap, with a bonded tooth in the middle. A bridge can be a great option if the adjacent teeth to the gap are heavily filled or broken, as three teeth are fixed in one go.
At Southport Park Family Dental we only place white fillings. We can also replace old unaesthetic amalgam fillings that have cracked and decayed with white fillings.
A denture is made to replace missing teeth. A denture can be made from metal or acrylic material that is removable from the mouth.
Dental implants are an excellent permanent option to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are titanium posts that are inserted into your jawbone, where your natural bone and gums aim to keep this nice and strong. Once in place, a crown is designed to look like your existing teeth and secured onto the post.
At Southport Park Family Dental we offer in-chair and take-home whitening kits. In chair whitening is completed using the Pola Office+ whitening system which takes 60 minutes to complete.
The take home whitening kit requires the dentist to take impressions of your teeth to make custom mouth trays. The whitening gel is then inserted into the trays which is worn for 60-90 minutes per day for 7-10 days. We do recommend that you consult with one of our friendly Dentists prior to starting your whitening treatment. Most people will have great results with teeth whitening however, it is important to note that existing fillings or crowns will not change colour.
A Veneer is used to improve the way your teeth look. It is a very thin facing that is permanently placed on the front of your existing tooth. It may be a great option for someone who has a chipped tooth, has small teeth or if there are gaps between teeth.
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that is a clear alternative to traditional braces. Invisalign straightens your teeth over time, by using a series of clear aligner trays to gently shift your teeth to the desired position.
For more information about Invisalign to find out if it is right for you, you can book an appointment with us and we would be more them happy to see you for your initial consultation.
We have emergency appointments available, so we can be there when you need us the most. If you are experiencing pain, have suffered trauma to your teeth or have noticed swelling in your mouth, please contact us as soon as possible so we can see how we can best help you.
If you would like more information about any of the services mentioned above, please give us a call or contact us via the website and one of our friendly team members will be more than happy to help.
An extraction is the removal of a tooth which is no longer salvageable. This is a routine dental procedure which we have a great deal of expertise in managing. We aim to make you as comfortable as possible throughout this procedure.
Root canal treatment is a procedure where the infected or damaged nerve in the tooth is removed and replaced with a filling. Your tooth may require this treatment if it has been affected by either decay, a crack in the tooth which has reached the nerve or from trauma.
